Czech Radio Art’s Birthday Party 2010 takes places at the Školská 28 Gallery right in the very center of Prague. The on-site event features two performance sets by George Cremaschi and Georgy Bagdasarov. Two artists, one out of California and the other from Kazahstan – more or less immigrants to the Czech Republic – who have become integral parts of contemporary Czech music and sound art scene.

George Cremaschi: Nothing to Say
Live Double Bass and Live Electronics Show
Reflections from (and on) exile (voluntary or not), and the meaning of the word home, by an immigrant son of a couple of immigrants, children of yet more immigrants. This is an excerpt of a longer, ongoing work.
Using electronics, contact microphones, glass and contrabass, and utilizing both composed and improvised elements, this is a work that brings together the various different areas of my work from the last two years, attempting to bridge the gaps between acoustic, electronic, and electroacoustic sound and sound production.
George Cremaschi was born in New York City, and studied music and composition there. He has played with, and composed for, dancers, rock bands, installation artists, improvisers, poets, film, folk musicians, theater groups, orchestras, and pop divas. He has worked with a long list of fantastic artists: Greg Goodman, Saadet Türköz, Matthew Ostrowski, Nicolas Collins, Evan Parker, Trinh T. Minh-Ha, Liz Allbee, Burkhard Stangl, Mats Gustafsson, Kai Fagaschinski, Lê Quan Ninh, Gino Robair, Rova Saxophone Quartet, Frédéric Blondy, Christof Kurzmann, Nels Cline, Andrea Parkins, Paul Lovens, Marshall Allen, Han Bennink, and many others.
As an interpreter, he has performed works by Morton Feldman, James Tenney, John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, Cornelius Cardew, Roscoe Mitchell, Christian Wolff, Wadada Leo Smith, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jon Raskin, Ana-Maria Avram, Louis Andriessen and Matthew Goodheart among many others.
He has appeared on over 30 recordings on the Apestaartje, Evolving Ear, Black Saint, Leo, Beak Doctor, Eman em, Rastascan, Music & Arts, Nine Winds and 482 Music labels. He currently lives in Tábor, Czech Republic, where he is a curator and administrator at CESTA, an international arts residency center.
George Bagdasarov: Sound Performance
George Bagdasarov was born in Kazahstan in Armenian family.
He started to study Cybernetics at Technical University, continued with Composition at Music Academy in Moscow and finally graduated from film school in St. Petersburg.
Bagdasarov started his music carrier as guitarist in psychedelic punk band that developed from conceptual techno to free improvisation based on the stuff collected on flea markets all around the world. He played and recorded in collaborations with jazz, noise, electronic, etc with musicians Richard Deutsch, Jerome Noetinger, Yoshio Mashida, LEs Halmes, Dill, Yutaka Makino, DJ Sniff, Nikolay Rubanov, Fitz Ellarald etc…
Bagdasarov currently lives in Prague and is finishing his Ph.D. at the Film Academy (FAMU) while being involved in a wide range of collaborations from punk-blues to audio visual noise performance. In solo performances he plays saxophone and prepared guitar with support of a flea market orchestra.
